Overview
North Northamptonshire Council (NNC) has recently consulted on a local authority wide Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) for Dog Control to ensure consistency across the area, harmonise existing orders and continue to address dog related anti-social behaviour. Legacy orders in Kettering, Wellingborough and East Northants are due to expire in November 2023, with no order currently in place for Corby.
The results of the consultation which ran from 22 June 2023 until midnight on 3 August 2023 informed the development of the following draft PSPO:
Public Spaces Protection Order (North Northamptonshire Council) (Dog Control) Order 2023
The PSPO covers the following:
- Dogs fouling on land
- Dogs on leads in certain identified areas of public land
- Dogs on lead upon request
- Dog exclusion in certain areas of public land
An order has not been made to restrict the number of dogs that can be taken onto land.
